Digital camera in place of sketchbook and pencil

„Digital technique imposes consequences in every respect. If wood as a material requires an understanding of wood from the carver, so anybody working with digital technology as an artist also needs to understand and to master this medium. It is technologically more difficult, since by contrast with wood, this material is immaterial. I now use a handy digital camera to collect my material, and no longer sketchbook and pencil. I may no longer be quite so much of an artist-interpreter with this, but I am absolutely authentic and amazingly fast.”
